DANCE MOVEMENT
Classes will be announce soon!
There are wild, raw and authentic layers of ourselves that can only be accessed when our rational mind is less active. When we dance, we are saying yes to those layers, we allow them to guide us, we embody them as we listen to our internal impulses.“If I could say how I feel, I wouldn’t dance it” Isadora Duncan
ABOUT:
A practice that emphasizes fluidity, connection with the floor, moving through space and embodied anatomy. It includes improvisation and a focus on the person's internal experience. Although there are simple choreographic phrases based in Contemporary dance, unlike more structured dance styles, sensitive dance incorporates the person's own impulses to move in relation to music, to sensation and to the different cues that respond to the topic of the class. There is space for exploration allowing the person to tap into their spontaneity.
Elements from Contemporary dance, authentic movement, BMC (Body mind Centering), Feldenkrais, Contact Improvisation are drawn into this practice.
There is something that can only be accessed when we dance, and this is postural and spatial awareness while moving. Dance also enhances self-expression, joy, freedom, aliveness and a sense of lightness while staying grounded.
