DANCE MOVEMENT
SIX WEEK SERIES 'Moving from within' Starts November 12th!
SOMATIC GROUNDWORK - CONTEMPORARY DANCE - FELDENKRAIS
Join us for a six-week journey into the joy of movement, where contemporary dance meets somatic exploration. This series is designed for all levels and invites you to reconnect with your body, uncovering its natural patterns and capacities through guided exercises and creative improvisation. You’ll explore foundational movement patterns through the lens of the Feldenkrais Method, deepen your body awareness, and cultivate a sense of ease and presence in motion. Along the way, you’ll experience the pleasure of dancing and take home a video of each phrase we explore, allowing you to continue your practice beyond the studio. This is not just a dance course, it’s an opportunity to discover more about yourself through the language of movement.

LEARNING THROUGH DEVELOPMENTAL MOVEMENT
In this course, we draw inspiration from the developmental movement patterns — the natural sequences of movement that we all experienced as babies when learning to roll, crawl, reach, and stand. These early patterns are the foundation for how we organize movement, balance, and expression throughout life.
By revisiting them through a somatic and creative lens, we awaken deep layers of self-knowledge: how we find support, how we transition, how we relate to gravity and space. Reconnecting with these fundamental movements restores a sense of ease, curiosity, and integration, qualities that naturally translate into more fluid dancing and a more embodied way of being in the world.
This Journey it is an invitation to:
~Listen to your body's voice and intelligence with an open heart, patience and honesty
~Explore an organic alignment from an embodied and living anatomy, rather than from a hierarchical and theoretical anatomic perspective
~Recall and retune with your inner guidance
~Tap into the pleasure of dancing
~Find more harmonic pathways to move in your everyday life, as well as bringing this embodied knowledge to any physical practice that you usually practice
~Journal as a way of documenting your insights, experiences during the whole course.

WHY THE MEDICINE OF DANCING?
Many of us, because of different past life experiences that couldn't find a way to be expressed or be integrated, end up in rigidity or chronic pain, loosing vitality, ease, naturalness, spontaneity and authenticity in the way we move. So as we recall and find more harmonic ways of moving, the impact is seen directly in the way we feel, we think, we perceive, in the way we are in the world and connect with the environment.
Through somatic dance-movement we:
-
Restore natural patterns: By exploring more fluid, varied, and harmonious ways of moving, we remind the nervous system that there are options beyond tension and rigidity.
-
Release stored patterns: Movement gives shape to what words sometimes cannot. Dancing allows us to express and integrate experiences that may have remained stuck or hidden in the body.
-
Reconnect body and mind: As we move with awareness, new neural pathways form — influencing how we feel, how we think, and how we perceive ourselves and the world.
-
Awaken vitality and spontaneity: When movement becomes freer and more authentic, so too does our way of being. Ease, play, and creativity return to daily life.
-
Deepen connection: As we regain naturalness in movement, we also open to richer connection — with our environment, with others, and with ourselves.
Dancing is not about performance or skill — it’s about re-inhabiting our bodies as living, expressive beings.
We will be attending to how gravity travels through us, sensing our relationship with the earth, the space around and the other people in the room. Through each sequence we will give ourselves time to amplify our listening allowing new patterns and ways of moving to unfold.
All of the exercises are invitational and you can always give yourself the pauses you need.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME. You don't need any specific experience in movement, dance or somatic practices. Just a curiousity in how Movement with awareness can be a doorway to explore your potential, a path to healing, and to be present in your life.
