There are wild, raw and authentic layers of ourselves that can only be accessed when our rational mind is less active. When we dance, we are saying yes to those layers, we allow them to guide us, we embody them as we listen to our internal impulses. “If I could say how I feel, I wouldn’t dance it” Isadora Duncan It is a dance movement based practice that emphasizes fluidity, connection with the floor, with the space and with others. We explore how the force of gravity travels through us as we move through space and as we lean into stillness. It includes improvisation and a focus on the person’s internal experience. Although there are simple choreographic phrases based in Contemporary dance and floorwork, unlike more structured dance styles, sensitive dance incorporates the person’s own impulses to move. This includes thoughts, feelings, inner sensations, imagery. Dance is an extraordinary state of being in which we can express ourselves fully in the present moment, giving us a deep sense of joy, freedom and a sense of lightness while staying grounded. While we dance, the unconscious can speak and be embodied. Oriented to anyone that loves movement and the possibility that embodied movement gives us of knowing ourselves better and deeper.
